DEAR FORBIDDEN formed sometime around 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - probably during a full moon, with all of the self-mythologizing and wanton hyperbole rock band bios are known for. It began with Gina LC and some other people who, frankly, don’t matter right now. Ryan joined in 2016, which was neat. But the real turning point came in 2017 with the arrival of Steph, that’s when everything got louder and tighter. In 2020, Kyle joined on second guitar, completing the lineup and adding a touch of luxury in the process.

The band doesn’t fit neatly into any genre, mostly because genres are a man-made construct. Despite this, the band has played many, many shows over the years, some even in such exotic locales like Poughkeepsie, NY and Wilmington, DE. The band has had it’s fair share of trials and tribulations, for example, nobody can tell when the band is joking, in any context.

Band Members:

• Gina LC (guitar/vocals) once won a lifetime supply of Pep-O-Mints in a contest that may or may not have involved a morally ambiguous candy magnate.

• Ryan (bass) has filed four cryptid sightings with local authorities. Three were dismissed. The fourth is still under review.

• Steph (drums) according to Tim Cook, is the inspiration for the "OK" fingers emoji

• Kyle (guitar) owns several acres of investment property on Nibiru, which he claims is “very nice this time of year.”

Trivia:

In 1985 the band auditioned for the Hill Valley High School dance. Huey Lewis, through a bullhorn, yelled, “I’m afraid you’re just too darn loud.” This event was dramatized in the film “Back to the Future.” The band considers this their only real review.

"Philly hard rock band Dear Forbidden is pissed off. I mean, a lot of people are pissed off right now for a lot of reasons, and the local band’s new single serves as a vehicle for catharsis, a means to expel the breadth of that negative energy through charging beats, heavily fuzzed out riffs, and 90s style vocal harmonies." (John Vettesse, Wxpn The Key)

"There's a tightness reminiscent of Speedy Ortiz and that comparison has nothing to do with Gina LC's voice, which is truly her own and begs no comparison. But the way Dear Forbidden make transitions, the way the fuzz cuts out without sounding gated, the incredible drumming, and the locked-in bass—you can hear a bit of Speedy Ortiz. But you can also hear their Boston pals Pile as well. This is fuzzy 90s inspired rock for sure, but it has that sophistication of tone and structure that has been made popular by the aforementioned bands." (Ada Wolford - My Little underground)
