UK/Greece-based metal band HILLTOPS ARE FOR DREAMERS is excited to reveal that its new EP, entitled “A Soulless Drive,” will be released on May 30th via Hilltops Recordings.

This three-tracks EP follows last year’s release, “The Tragedy of Being Human,” and brings the thematic cycle to a close. With “A Soulless Drive,” the band delves once more into the darker corners of the human mind with a sense of hopeful introspection.

Musically, the EP takes a more direct, rock-influenced approach, with clean vocals at the forefront. The song structures are more accessible, blending elements of alternative rock, gothic tones, and classic heavy metal into a cohesive sound.

Each of the three tracks was released as a single between March and May, each accompanied by a lyric video. The new single “Halo Above” – released today as a single on the main digital streaming platforms, as well as lyric video - is dedicated to the memory of Miika Tenkula, the late guitarist and main songwriter of Finnish metal band Sentenced.

Vasilis Papageorgakopoulos was behind the lyric videos, single artworks, as well as the production and mixing of the songs. The EP was mastered by Steve Lado. The digital art and EP logo were created by Admir Tihic.

HILLTOPS ARE FOR DREAMERS (HAFD) is a UK and Greece-based project formed in 2018. They self-released their debut EP in January 2020, blending early 2000s metalcore with blues and catchy melodies, earning positive reviews. During the 2020 lockdown, they released the split EP “A Transition” with Repent For Joy, further evolving their sound.

Their debut full-length album, “In Disbelief” (March 2022), marked a departure from their earlier style, incorporating black metal, acoustic blues, progressive elements, and electronic touches, while maintaining their post-hardcore roots. The album received critical acclaim, with Metal Hammer Greece rating it 8/10 and Rock Hard Italy giving it 8.5/10. In 2024, they released the melancholic 3-song EP “The Tragedy of Being Human”. The new EP “A Soulless Drive,” out on May 16th, 2025, leans into a more direct rock sound, while remaining melancholic and anthemic.
