German black metal duo SPERE is excited to announce that their new album “Blotters In Saline Water” will be released on October 2nd independently. The album, featuring 8 brand-new tracks, will be available as a jewel case and transparent green vinyl.


A foretaste of what you might expect from the album is now available with the song “Slip The Oar,” available as a digital single on the main streaming services as well as a music video on YouTube directed by Christian Palm.

“Blotters In Saline Water” is the tale of a ship’s fate in deepest waters, a captain’s log divided into 8 chapters. This output relies heavily on groove, pulsating synthesizers, psychedelic elements and versatile drumming. Melodies are for the most part derived from electronics, whereas the string act as foundation in the background. A captain's account of a psychedelic journey through unforgiving waters – from bleak halts at port to drops from colossal waves, from shimmering ripples to the vortex, from burning engines to last drops of fuel, from nutritional abundance to lead poisoning, from mutiny to death – and to the ultimate end at hands of a depth charge.


SPERE is a two-piece founded by members of the German Black Metal institutions Horn and Halphas – with the goal of creating minimalistic, energetic, low-frequency black metal laced with Doom and classic Metal influences. After the debut album, SPERE shifted heavily towards a synthesizer-driven sound, incorporating unusual stylistical electronic elements with a deep drive into their realm of Black Metal.
