Doom Metallers StartTheMonkey Unleash Their Rage Towards Western Governments in the Video "Why"!

The Greek doom metal band StartTheMonkey released “Why”, the angriest song from its upcoming LP “Urban Psyche” on April 28 via Electric Talon Records.

As the opening track of the EP, “Why” sets the stage of the EP’s overall dark and angry atmosphere. The slow and yet aggressive riffing paired with Iasonas Gousas’ angry vocals makes “Why” a unique experience for listeners. The song is all about projecting anger towards the hypocrisy of western governments, while the lyrics were derived from the feeling of the music itself. In the video of “Why”, StartTheMonkey utilizes stock footage to showcase the brutal nature of capitalism and the modern way of life that’s normalized far too often. Watch “Why” here:

StartTheMonkey is preparing to unleash ‘urban negativity’ upon the masses in the form of “Urban Psyche”, the band’s long awaited LP which will be released on May 5 via Electric Talon Records. With “Urban Psyche”, the band highlights that there’s a unique type of darkness and depression associated with living in a metropolitan area. The Greek act emphasizes that there’s more to the depressive side of living in urban areas than just common depression. There are specific emotions in those conditions which are distractive to one’s inner peace, those emotions tend to rule over one’s life. That state of depression puts one in a bubble of sorts that they’re afraid to escape from. There’s apparent anger directed towards emotions of depression and the cause of them. Listeners can find out StartTheMonkey’s solution on how to escape when “Urban Psyche” comes out.
