Bergen-based progressive metal act -JAIME- has released the new album “Above And Beyond” on November 14th on Jaimekalv Records. With this new effort, -JAIME- dives deep into the personal, using songwriting as a form of self-therapy after Bergen’s healthcare system failed to provide support in an effort to process lifelong aspects of being adopted.
What started as a simple guitar improvisation in the autumn of 2022 quickly evolved into a cohesive, thematic work centered on the search for belonging. After a year of writing, -JAIME- brought the material into the rehearsal space, where he and the band developed the music, scope, and expression into a large-scale conceptual album.

The recording process was ambitious: twelve tracks, entirely self-produced, spanning a wide range of genres, from hard hitting instrumentals to grand ballads, theatrical musical inspired pieces, and a finale rarely found on a metal album. The studio became a place of creativity and challenge alike, where experimentation, perfectionism, and exhaustion existed side by side. A decisive turning point came with the addition of vocalist Angelika Frajberg, whose unique voice and emotional delivery brought the album’s full potential to life. The band also collaborated with STEMMER choir, conducted by Tore Kloster and arranged by Robin Garen Aaberg, adding an epic, cinematic dimension to the sound.
“Above And Beyond” stands as one of the most ambitious prog metal projects to emerge from Bergen in years. Listeners can expect a cinematic and genre crossing experience inspired by Steve Vai, Devin Townsend, Nightwish, and Dream Theater, combining technical brilliance with sweeping melodies and emotional depth, with each track exploring its own musical landscape. In 2026, the band brings the music out into the world, ready to elevate Bergen’s prog metal reputation to new heights.
